Westcoast resident and former HR professional, Ami Savla has come up with a novel concept that lets you trade goods and services you possess for things you want! Call it a cashless trading platform of sorts, X-change allows you to exchange stuff in lieu of other goods and services. So, if you have a book, which you want to get rid of, you can exchange it for another book at X-change It.Salva thought of the idea when she was working as an HR professional; she quit her job to concentrate on the project. "It is a platform where like-minded people can connect," she quips. Set up four months ago, X-change It has already conducted a couple of live events. Their first event was conducted at their office where only books were exchanged. "It was organised on a small scale and over 120 books were exchanged!" says Ishita Asher, who handles the marketing of the website. Their second event was held at Mithibai College and received enormous response.Once you log on to their facebook page, you can post what you are looking for and also mention what you can exchange in return. "We encourage a mere exchange of goods or services without the involvement of any money," confesses Asher. Currently, their website is under construction and they operate from their facebook page. "There are no membership charges and we have not hired any professionals for marketing the website," she adds.Barter your stack of CDs with second-hand booksExchange a fitness class for a cooking classTake up web designing in exchange of interior designingRid yourself of excess furniture for a smart phoneJoin the barter movement.
