A 59-year-old woman was mowed down a tempo driver while crossing the road in Dombivli. The driver allegedly hit the woman, injuring her severely. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

The Manpada police have identified the driver and have booked him for causing death due to negligence. The deceased, Chitlekha Bhanse, was a resident of Lodha Vihar at Manpada. She was crossing the Kalyan Shil road when the accused Arunram Singh, 37, allegedly mowed her down after losing the control over the tempo.

Bhanse suffered severe fracture and injuries on her body and was rushed to a local hospital. "The woman died while undergoing treatment. We have registered a case under sections 304(A) (causing death due to negligence), 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal code and under relevant section of the Motor Vehicle Act," said the official.
