With over 5 lakh people expected to throng South Mumbai for the Maratha Kranti silent march on Wednesday, city commuters are likely to face traffic woes and congestion. The march will start from Byculla Zoo at 11 am and reach Azad Maidan.

The Mumbai Traffic Police have issued an advisory for commuters to be followed from 9 am to 5 pm for ensuring smooth movement of traffic.

According to the police, they have diverted the traffic route. Around four roads will be closed from 9 am to 5 pm and around seven roads will be available for the commuters as alternative routes. The police have advised citizens to avoid commuting on the route of the march between 9 am to 5 pm. The police have also made special arrangement for parking for the participants coming from across the state. Amitesh Kumar, Joint commissioner of Police (Traffic), said, “Considering the huge number of vehicles coming from all over Maharashtra the police have also arranged parking facility at four locations. We have made elaborate arrangements to ensure that citizens face minimum traffic congestion and traffic flow would be as smooth as possible.”

Road closed

Southbound traffic on Dr Ambedkar Road will be closed from from Dadar Fire brigade junction upto JJ flyover. Also, JJ flyover from its starting point to CST junction.Hajarimal Somani road would be closed from OCS Road to CST junction.Mananagar Palika Road from Metro junction to CSTThe right turn from Bhatia Baug to CST

Alternative routes 

Traffic on Marine Drive (NS Marg) via Peddar Road Haji Ali towards Sea Link or from E Moses Road to Siddhivinayak towards Senabhavan is allowed.Traffic from Madam Cama road and right turn through Flora Fountain and going to Old custom House via Kalaghoda Road to Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg will be allowed.Traffic from King’s Circle taking left turn to char Rasta (RAK road) will be allowed.Left turn from Dadar TT towards Chaar Rasta (RAK Road) will be allowed.Left turn at Naigaon cross Road Chaar Rasta will be allowed.GD Ambedkar Marg Mane Master chowk to Chaar Rasta (RAK road) will be allowed.Traffic from NM Joshi Marg to Lower Parel railway station to Haji Ali to Worli Naka is allowed.
