MUMBAI: Five members of the Guru Satam gang, including his son, were arrested here on Thursday.
 
In the continuing crackdown on underworld gangs, the members were arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with an extortion case.
 
Among the arrested were Bhushan Satam, son of Guru Satam,  former close associate of underworld don Chhota Rajan.
 
The other gangsters taken into custody are Hemant Raut, Naresh  Parab, Chandra Anna alias Raju Pujari and Vilas.
 
They will be produced in a metropolitan court on Friday, sources said.
 
Gurunath Narhari 'Guru' Satam joined hands with Chhota Rajan after a spat with Dawood Ibrahim and became a force to reckon with in the underworld. He was allegedly responsible for arranging the killing of labour leader Datta Samant in 1997.
 
According to police sources, he threatened a number of Bollywood film personalities and expanded his extortion activities in the metropolis.
