The crime branch of the city police on Tuesday handed over four commerce college students, including the son of a police constable, to the Hadapsar police. They were arrested on Monday for stealing two-wheelers and selling them to make quick money to lead lavish lives.

They have been accused of stealing 13 vehicles from different parts of the city. “Three of the vehicles were stolen from Hadapsar area. So they have been handed over to the local police for further investigations,” the crime police officials said.

The suspects stole vehicles from parking areas in Swargate, Noble Hospital, Pune Municipal Corporation and Nowrosjee Wadia College. They have been identified as Kunal Vishwas Mehekar (19) of Ramtekdi, Pratik Rajendra Patil (19) and Sagar Nanadkumar Gade (19) of Hadapsar, and Amar Akaram Patil (24) of Kolhapur.Cops bust prostitution racketThe court of judicial magistrate (first class), VB Bohra, on Wednesday remanded five suspects involved in a prostitution racket in police custody till Friday. The Hinjewadi police on Tuesday arrested 45-year-old Ajit Nandalal Ghosh of Baner for allegedly running the racket.

Apart from Ghosh, Bablu Dukawant Sahu (29), who used to stay at Hotel Amrut and hails from Orissa, Ravi Gopalsingh Gor (26) of Guwahati, Shankarlal Sharma (35) from Rajasthan and Gayatriprasad Jaishankar Singh (29) of Uttar Pradesh were also arrested.

After being tipped off by local Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and Shiv Sena activists, a team of Hinjewadi police officials raided a bungalow in Sus village and detained 30 girls allegedly involved in the flesh trade.
