In a bizarre incident on Tuesday morning, three residents from the third floor of Lalji Dongarshi building in Masjid Bunder’s Bhat Bazaar area got hurt after they suddenly plunged down to the second floor of the structure.

The ground-plus-three storey Lalji Dongarshi building is very old, but had been declared fit for living. The incident took place around 10.30am.

An eyewitness said, “The floor of flat number 28, owned by one Rajkumar Seth who doesn’t reside here, collapsed and before the people living in the house could realise what has happening, they had landed on the second floor godown of the building.”

People rushed to the spot on hearing the loud thud and helped rescue the victims Suvendu Tarafdar (29), Divendu Tarafdar (32) and Sumitra Tarafdar (58), who received minor injuries.
