Unidentified suspects allegedly stole a new Tata Aria after threatening its 26-year-old driver. The incident took place on Spine Road in Moshi on Wednesday night. Mattu Rajat (26), the driver, lodged a complaint with the Bhosari police station.

According to the police, Rajat is a driver at Tata Motors and transports new cars to the Bihar plant. On Wednesday, he started his journey late night to transport the four-wheeler to the Bihar plant. When he reached Spine Road, his car was waylaid by three unidentified bike-borne persons at 11.30 pm.

One of the suspects threatened him with a sharp weapon and forced him to sit on the back seat of the car. The suspects drove the four-wheeler on Bhosari Road and filled fuel for Rs1,500 at Dnyanganga Petrol Pump, before heading towards Chakan. On the way, they allegedly thrashed the complainant and dropped him near a hotel on Moshi Road and fled with the car.

A police officer said that there have been incidents of robbery at some of the secluded places in Moshi, but this was the first incident of car theft.
