According to the police, the incident took place near the Ambassador Hotel in Churchgate around 2 am on Monday. The police said that Gupta, in order to miss hitting a cyclist, swerved and rammed into the taxi that was stationed on the left side of the road following which three trailing cars and a bike crashed into each other. "The cyclist came in the way of Gupta while he was driving. To avert the accident with the cyclist, Gupta turned left and rammed into the taxi," said Vilas B Gangawane, senior police inspector of Marine Drive Police Station.
