Officials of the crime branch arrested three people for allegedly killing a 34-year-old man near Dadar's flower market early morning on Friday. The accused have been identified as Radhakrishna Kushwaha (37), Rajendra Aherwaar (30) and Hemendra Kushwaha (20).

Manoj Maurya was shot dead with a country-made pistol while he was heading to work on Friday.

According to the crime branch officials, the accused were arrested on Sunday from Delhi. While Radhakrishna is the mastermind behind the plot, Aherwaar and Hemendra are contract killers hired by Radhakrishna after giving out the supari to kill Maurya.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Maurya and his wife had gone to Delhi in 2015 where Maurya's wife was working for Radhakrishna who owned a diesel booster company and manufactured relative items and traded the same.

Maurya continued with his profession of repairing weighing scales at Delhi. After some time, Radhakrishna suffered losses in the company and shut it down after which Maurya and his wife returned to Mumbai in 2017.

"During the course of time, Radhakrishna and Maurya had developed differences over some personal matters and being infuriated by the same, Radhakrishna planned the entire plot and approached the other duo for killing Maurya. For the same, he offered Rs 50,000 and also provided the weapon to be used for the killing. The accused trio were planning to kill Maurya since five months and were also keeping a close tab to examine daily routine of Maurya.

They tried to execute their plan once but failed so later, Aherwaar and Hemendra reached Mumbai on Tuesday last week and again examined daily routine of Maurya with close vigilance. On Friday morning, after finding perfect opportunity, Maurya was shot with point black range and after the firing, the accused caught Paschim express passenger train and fled to Delhi." said Deputy Commissioner of Polcie, Detection, Dilip Sawant.

"Based on credible inputs from informers and leads obtained during the investigation, the trio were arrested from Delhi. The trio are being interrogated and as of now we have registered a case under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Bombay Police Act. All accused have been sent to police custody. Investigation in the case is underway and motive of the murder shall be made clear after thorough probe." Sawant added.
