Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday directed MHADA officials to hand over houses to these police employees as and when the houses are built.

Fadnavis held a review meeting on the BDD redevelopment project in which Chief Secretary Sumit Mallik, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sudhirkumar Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary (Housing Development) Sanjay Kumar and MHADA CEO Subhash Lakhe were present as well. They discussed providing houses on an urgent basis to the 2,950 occupants from the police department who are residing at BDD chawls for 30 years. They also discussed the parameters for handing over houses built by MHADA to the occupants and it was decided that these parameters would be finalised by the Home Department.
Fadnavis directed MHADA officials to start the work for building these houses. At the meeting, they also discussed whether those residing at these BDD chawls after 1996 and are considered as unauthorised could be regularised by charging a fine.
