The police received a tip-off about the racket and subsequently sent three of its men posing as customers to Ambawadi and Sambhaji Nagar in Dahisar (East) and the Kandarpada area, which falls under the MHB police station's jurisdiction.

“Some of the girls claim they are minors, though they don not look underage. But, we sent them for medical examination to determine their ages,” said a police officer.

The 14 arrested men have booked under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act. The rescued girls, who used to work in bars, live in the slum areas at Dahisar and Borivli, the police claimed.
