2006 Train blasts case: Taxi-driver identifies accused

A witness in the July 2006 Mumbai train blasts deposed before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court in Mumbai and identified an accused in the case.The witness, a taxi-driver, told the court that he had ferried the accused Asif Bhasir Khan and an accomplice from Bandra to Churchgate station on the fateful day.He further said that after he had dropped Khan, Khan gave him a note of Rs500 even though the fare was only Rs180.When the witness told him that he did not have necessary change, Khan, according to the witness, told him to keep the change.The taxi driver said that two months after the incident when the police asked him if he knew about the accused, he recollected ferrying Khan and also that he was carrying a bag.Three other witnesses have already identified Khan during the trial earlier.Seven RDX bombs kept in the first class coaches of Mumbai's suburban trains had exploded on July 11, 2006 killing 188 people and injuring 817 others.Fourteen persons have been arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad for their alleged involvement in the case, while 15 other accused are still absconding.
