The city saw two more deaths due to leptospirosis on Sunday, taking the death toll due to the disease this monsoon to 12.

While one of the patients was a 55-year-old man from Govandi, who died at Nair Hospital, the other was a 38-year-old woman from Bhoiwada, who died at KEM hospital, Dr Neera Kewalramani, deputy executive health officer of BMC said.

But the number of patients getting admitted to city hospitals because of rain-related diseases has gone down, she said. At least 215 cases of fever, 54 of gastroenteritis, 8 of leptospirosis, 2 of dengue and 43 of malaria have been reported from civic and government hospitals in the city, a health officials said.
