The police also suspect that there was another explosive device that was used to trigger the blast. “We are yet to receive the final component report from the forensics department, but we suspect there was another explosive substance apart from ammonium nitrate and fuel oil,” said a police officer.
The police are yet to recover the timer. “The timer blows away furthest after a blast, so it is difficult to trace it. We suspect that a digital clock would have been used because the timer in an analogue clock can be set for only 12 hours,” the officer added.
The police claimed that as the Central Forensic Science Laboratory teams from Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune had taken samples from the three blast sites — Dadar, Opera House and Zaveri Bazaar — the state FSL did not get enough samples.
The police are taking help from a local laboratory, which provides technical support in video enhancement to Hollywood studios, for clear images caught on the CCTVs.
