19-year-old dies during tug-of-war on college premises in Sion

Jibin Sunny, a second year student of K J Somaiya Nursing college, died during a sports event on Friday. The college principal, Avani Oke, said the 19-year-old collapsed while engaging in tug-of-war on the college premises in Sion. Jibin was administered CPR by a medical expert and rushed to Rajawadi hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival.

The hospital's medical superintendent, Dr Vidya Thakur, says the body has been sent for post-mortem. Jibin was, in fact, an athlete with no history of health issues, Oke said.

Senior police inspector Sushil Kamble of Tilak Nagar police station confirmed that a case of accidental death has been registered. "It is not yet clear what exactly lead to the student's death," he said. "We will have to wait for the post-mortem reports to confirm the cause of death."
