Maharashtra: 163 city cops died last year
In a written reply to former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar (NCP) and others in the state legislative assembly on Tuesday, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, however, denied that the policemen were affected by ailments related to work pressure, irregular meals and lack of sleep.
The men and women who take care of the entire city's safety may not be in the pink of health themselves. The state government has admitted that in the last one year, a total of 163 policemen have died in Mumbai.

In the reply, Fadnavis, who also holds charge of the state home department, said that to ensure the good health of policemen, the government was implementing the police family health scheme, changing duties and granting allowances for food, BMI scans and so on. It has also made available gymnasiums, rest facilities, libraries, study rooms and check-up facilities, and workshops were being held with the help of the police welfare fund, said the CM.
