16 Mumbai schools get top ranks in countrywide survey

EducationWorld-sponsored research weighed 913 institutes in different categories

Names of 16 schools from Mumbai have appeared in the top 10 rankings under different categories in a countrywide survey done by the EducationWorld magazine. The survey, results of which were released on Tuesday, was done on 913 schools in the country under different categories like day schools, international schools, international day-cum boarding schools etc.

Dhirubhai Ambani International School has been ranked number 1 across India among the best day international schools. Campion School, Mumbai (all-boys) is ranked India's most admired day school (ranked number 1) in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2014. In the co-ed day school category, The Cathedral and John Connon School is ranked second and Thane's Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School Thane is ranked at number 5.

JB Petit High School, Mumbai is ranked third in the category of girls' day school. In the government day school category, Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT-Bombay, Powai, is ranked seventh. In the international-category (day schools), Ecole Mondiale School is ranked second and Podar International School is ranked ninth.

EducationWorld commissioned this survey through the Centre for Forecasting Pvt Ltd (C fore), a Delhi-based researcher of markets and an opinion polls company. It conducted the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings survey in education hubs across 25 cities India to rate 931 schools. A total of 8,263 fees-paying parents, teachers, principals and educationists were interviewed to rate and rank the country's most well-known day, boarding and international primary/secondary schools.

The top such schools will be felicitated in New Delhi on September 20. The schools are evaluated on 14 parameters like teacher welfare and development, competence of faculty, sports education, special needs education, co-curricular education, infrastructure provision, academic reputation, value for money, individual attention to students, leadership/management quality, parental involvement, internationalism, community service and life skills education and conflict management.

Other schools in boys day school category are Don Bosco High School, Matunga (rank 7) and St Mary's High School, ICSE, Mazgaon, (rank 8).

The other institutes which figured in the international schools category are Oberoi International School (rank 3), Aditya Birla World Academy (rank 8), Billabong International, Santa Cruz (W) (rank 9), Ryan Global School, (rank 10). In the international day-cum-boarding schools category, Singapore International School, Mumbai ranked 10 and in the international residential schools category, The Cathedral Vidya School, Lonavala, ranked 8.
