Even before the coast guard and the Indian Navy could rescue the 15 fishermen off Umbergaon (near Palghar), after their boats sank on late Sunday night, the fellow fishermen sailing in the vicinity successfully rescued them."An information from Palghar police station was received at coast guard headquarters in Mumbai at 9.50 pm about two fishing boats named sinking in the sea near Umbergaon, post their engine failure. The two sunk boats were Himsagar and Krishna Sagar.Thereafter, Indian Coast Guard Ship Agrim was diverted to the location to render assistance. Additionally, a helicopter from Daman too was directed to fly to the incident site on the first light of Monday. Another helicopter, a Seaking 42B of the Indian Navy was also launched from Mumbai.Meanwhile, two fishing boats were launched from Dahanu by the local agent of the fishing boat. It reached the location at around 2am, but none of the 15 fishermen were sighted.The coast guard ship reached during the wee hours of Monday, but by then, other fishermen rescued the 15 stranded in the sea and transferred them to a local hospital at Umbergaon.
