14-year-old girl raped at Rabale, suspect flees city

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by one of her acquaintances at Rabale. Her parents however, got to know about the crime only after seven months after the victim complained of severe stomach pain on Friday evening.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where it was revealed that she was seven months pregnant. It was only then she told her parents that she was raped by Noor Mohammad, a native of Uttar Pradesh, in September last year.

"The victim stays with her family at Bhimnagar in Rabale and she knew the suspect for the past one year. The suspect worked with some private company and he stayed in a rented house near the victim's school," said a police officer from Rabale MIDC police station.

"The suspect developed a friendship with the victim and he took her to his house in September last year. He showed her some obscene videos in his mobile phone and then allegedly raped her. After committing the crime, he also threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed it to anyone else," the officer said.

The suspect reportedly ran away to his native place leaving his job a few days ago. The police have now sent a team of their officials to Uttar Pradesh to get hold of him.

"We are not sure about the real name of the suspect. Based on the details given by the victim, we have sent our team to nab him. An identification parade will be conducted after the team come back with the suspect and only then we will take legal action against him. It is still not clear, if the suspect is a habitual offender," another police officer said.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under section 376 of Indian Penal Code against the suspect.
