THANE: Eleven child labourers from Thane were freed and six persons who employed them were arrested by the police here.
  
In a special drive conducted with Juvenile Aid Police Unit (JAPU) and an NGO 'Pratham', children in the age group of 12 to 16 years working in bakeries, garages and workshops at Naupada in Thane city were rescued and sent to remand home in Bhiwandi.
  
Acting on the complaint of Mr Avinash Avghade of 'Pratham', the police on Saturday raided Uthalsar, Teen Hath Naka and Teen Petrol Pump and rescued the child labourers , hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Nepal, Orissa and Bihar.
