MUMBAI: One person was killed and four others injured when a balcony of a five-storeyed building crashed at Andheri West, on Monday morning.

According to Senior Police Inspector, Andheri, Arvind Mahapadi, the incident happened at the Page Mahaan Apartments, at JB Nagar around 8.30 am.

Ramnivas Paramram Bishnoi (28) was killed instantly when slabs of the first and second floor balconies crashed onto a gas agency located on the ground floor.

Three other employees of the gas agency - Prakash Jagtap, Ramchandra Kadam, Laxman Thombre, have suffered injuries. A second floor resident of the building, Nandakumar Sakseria, was also injured. All the victims have been rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Police sources said that the building is many decades old and in a dilapidated condition. Senior police inspector Mahapadi is investigating the matter.
