I am not Trupti Sawant's mentor: Rashmi Thackeray
Soon after the results for the Bandra East assembly constituency bypolls, hundreds of jubilant party workers, mainly women, turned up at Matoshree, the residence of Thackerays, to congratulate the family for winning the seat. Clad in a yellow saree and a big trademark smile, Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav, came out to greet and thank them. Amidst crowd management, she spoke to dna's Kanchan Srivastava. Who do you attribute this thumping win of Trupti Sawant to?Blessings of Balasaheb and goodwill of the late Bala Sawant, who had worked very hard in the constituency.You have been mentoring Trupti since her name was announced as the candidate. What tips did you give her?(Laughs) I am not her mentor.Do you think Trupti will be able to deliver, especially because she is novice and lacks political experience?Whoever contests for the first time lacks experience. We know her capabilities. She will definitely perform.Have you or the party given any mandate to her?No. We just want her to work for the people, just like her husband did.
