Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba personifies the saying, 'failure is the key to success'. One of the most successful entrepreneurs, Jack Ma owns property worth Rs 1,300 billion and his e-commerce major Alibaba boasts of 10 million customers per day.

But it wasn't an easy ride to the zenith for Jack Ma. He, too, faced a lot of obstacles and failures again and again.

In a recent interview, Jack Ma revealed that he had failed college entrance examinations thrice, before he was dismissed by the institution, Navbharat Times has reported. After this, he kept applying for jobs, giving interviews at almost 30 different organisations, only to face failure.

Ma said in the interview, "I went for a job in the police department but they didn't consider me eligible. When KFC started in my city, I even went there. There were 24 applicants out of which 23 were recruited except me."

When Ma founded Alibaba in 1998, he had to face a lot of hurdles. In the first three years of its inception, the company made no profit. The biggest challenge for the company was the absence of a payment gateway, and banks weren't ready to work with it.

Ma decided to start his own payment program known as Alipay, under which it was possible for international customers to pay in their respective currencies. Sharing his experience, he said, "I discussed Alipay with several people who called it the stupidest idea, but I didn't give up."

Today, about 80 million people use Alipay.
