Light-o-meter is out! The umpires decide that it is too dark for the play to continue! The play has been suspended due to bad light at the moment and it will resume only if the light improves. Alright then, the play has been called-off. The ground staff is getting the covers on the field. THAT WILL BE STUMPS ON DAY 1.
Right then! Only 34.4 overs were possible on Day 1 of the second Test, due to rain and bad light and Sri Lanka have managed to score 113 runs with the loss of just 1 wicket. West Indies would be a touch disappointed with their bowling effort as they were not upto the mark and gave away too many loose balls to the Lankan batters.
Sri Lankan openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Pathum Nissanka were brilliant once again as they stitched together a stand of 106 runs before the skipper perished. Young Pathum Nissanka has looked solid yet again and he continues to impress one and all. He negotiated the new ball pretty well along with Dimuth Karunaratne and looked equally good against spin as well. Karunaratne also looked soild until he was at the crease but fell cheaply to Roston Chase just minutes before the umpires called it
West Indies bowlers were very inconsistent with their lines and lengths and gave away too many freebies to Sri Lanka's opening batters. Kemar Roach and Jason Holder did start well but they failed to get the breakthrough. Jomel Warrican kept things tight in the middle and hit the right areas to keep the batters in check. Roston Chase did get the priced wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne but he was a touch expensive and dished out a lot of loose balls. All in all, it wasn't the best of bowling per

We hope that rain gods stay away tomorrow and we get to see a full day of riveting Test cricket. Cheers!
... Day 2, Session 1 ...
The rain gods had their say on Day 1 of the second Test match between Sri Lanka and West Indies. The first two sessions went down the drain without even getting done with the toss. We saw some cricket in the final session. Sri Lanka elected to bat and went back as the happier side at Stumps on Day 1. On that note, welcome to the coverage of Day 2 of the second Test match.
Sri Lankan openers scored at a brisk rate in the time they spent on the field. This time Pathum Nissanka was the aggressor, unlike the first game where Dimuth Karunaratne was the one who had his foot on the gas. The pair stitched a 106-run stand before the skipper made his way back in the hut. After the wicket, the run flow slowed down. Fernando struggled a bit against the spinners, but to his benefit the umpires suspended the game due to bad light and only 34.4 overs were bowled out of the sche
West Indies failed to cause any trouble to the batters. It was a persistent pace attack to start with from both ends. Roach and Holder probed good lines and lengths but could not find any success and the batters negotiated the new ball really well. Kraigg Brathwaite then got Mayers into the mix, along with Chase and Warrican. The spinners though caused some trouble with some turn and extra bounce. It was Chase who drew the first blood and an important one of Karunaratne. West Indies will come ou
