Commentary :
0.0 : Welcome to everyone for this vital Group B clash between Oman and Bangladesh. The former are heading into this match after an emphatic victory while the latter were shocked in their opener and find themselves precariously placed. It's already a do-or-die game for the Bangla Tigers with Scotland almost set to win their ongoing match against Papua New Guinea. Can Bangladesh turn things around against the hosts and keep their campaign alive? Let's find out.
Oman made a huge statement in their tournament opener by thumping PNG by 10 wickets and have made their case really strong. Another win here will almost seal the deal for them and the home team would be looking forward to achieving that at Bangladesh's cost. The Bangla Tigers were the favourites of this group but an unexpected defeat has hurt their campaign. Losing against Scotland would have been demoralizing and that was mainly due to a disappointing batting effort. Can they pull up their sock
... MATCH DAY …

The captain of Bangladesh, Mahmudullah, says that they will bat first. He says that they would like to put runs on the board and then defend it later on. He adds that dew is a factor here and they just want to put a good total on the board. About the last game, Mahamudullah explains that they didn’t get enough partnerships with the bat and the batters need to take more responsibility. He mentions that there is one change, Soumya Sarkar is out and Mohammad Naim replaces him.
Oman (Playing XI) - Aqib Ilyas, Jatinder Singh, Zeeshan Maqsood (C), Kashyap Prajapati, Naseem Khushi (WK), Mohammad Nadeem, Ayaan Khan, Sandeep Goud, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan, Fayyaz Butt (In for Khawar Ali).
The Oman skipper, Zeeshan Maqsood, says that they are happy to bowl first and they would look to keep Bangladesh to a low score. On being asked if there is any pressure on them, as, if they win this game, they could more or less confirm their place in the Super 12, Zeeshan replies that they had pressure in the first game and not in this one. Informs that they have one change, Fayyaz Butt is in for Khawar Ali.
Pitch report - Danny Morrison says that the surface has a nice tinge of grass and there is a little indentation. Adds that there could be some variable bounce and if the bowlers hit the right lines and lengths, they could do well.
The game is set to begin. Firstly the players come out for their respective national anthems. First, it will be of Bangladesh and that will be followed by the anthem of the home side, Oman. Now, the Oman players spread out to their respective fielding positions and they are followed by the opening pair of Bangladesh, Mohammad Naim and Liton Das. Bilal Khan to start with the ball for the hosts.
0.5 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Shortish and outside off, it's played down from the crease to point.
0.1 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, A gentle delivery to begin proceedings. It's an outswinger on a length outside off, Naim watches it well and makes a leave.
0.2 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Another outswinger is served by Bilal Khan. The line is closer to off this time and Naim defends it from the crease to the off side.
0.3 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Fuller on middle and off, shaping away a shade, Naim drives but straight to the short cover fielder.
0.4 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Four dots on the trot. Fuller and wider outside off, Mohammad Naim plays a confident drive but again finds the fielder at short cover.
0.5 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Wide! Bangladesh open their account. Bilal Khan probably tries bowling an inswinger but fails to get the line right. It's drifting down the leg side, Naim tries to flick but misses. The keeper collects and appeals but the umpire turns to signal for a wide.
0.6 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Wide! A bit harsh on the bowler. On a shortish length again, outside off and shaping away, Naim chases and misses. That ball was flirting with the tramline and the umpire gives it a wide.
Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Back of a length on off, Mohammad Naim runs it down to third man and opens his account with a single. A tidy first over by Bilal.
0.5 : Who bowls from the other end? It is Kaleemullah.
1.1 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, Kaleemullah starts with a delivery on middle and off, a touch short, Naim defends it back to the bowler.
1.2 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, Play and a miss! Short and wide outside off, Naim flashes his bat at it but fails to connect.
1.3 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, On a length around off, angling away, Naim taps it down to backward point and that fielder has a needless shy at the bowler's end. He misses and the backup fielder also fails to collect the ball. They cross for an overthrow.
1.2 : Review time! Liton Das has been given out for caught behind and he takes the review straightaway. UltraEdge detects no spike when the ball passes the bat and hence, the decision has been overturned.
1.4 : Kaleemullah to Liton Das, DAS IS SAFE! A peach of a delivery though by Kaleemullah. He dishes it on a good length and lands it close to off, Liton Das shows no footwork as he has gentle poke inside the line. The ball whizzes past the outside edge and the keeper appeals after collecting it. The finger has gone up but Das is quick to take the DRS. The UltraEdge confirms that not just the footwork of the batsman but the edge of the bat is also missing. No spike. Das survives.
1.5 : Kaleemullah to Liton Das, Back of a length around off, Liton Das punches it to cover-point where the fielder fumbles and concedes two runs.
1.6 : Kaleemullah to Liton Das, Shortish and outside off, it's guided down to third man for a single.
2.1 : Bilal Khan to Liton Das, Plenty of action on this delivery. A lovely yorker around off, Das walks forward to take it on the full and digs it out with his bat and pad together. The ball deflects to point, the bowler appeals and the fielder scores a direct hit at the non-striker's end. The ball now ricochets away towards mid on and they cross for a run. Given as a run, so it was bat first.
2.2 : Bilal Khan to Mohammad Naim, Fullish and angling in around middle, Naim heaves it to deep square leg for a single.
2.3 : Bilal Khan to Liton Das, Fractionally short and around off, it's defended from the back foot to the off side.
2.4 : Bilal Khan to Liton Das, DROPPED! Liton Das gets a life. Bilal Khan delivers it on a length around middle, Das gets forward and across to flick it aerially over backward square leg. Kashyap Prajapati speeds across to his right in the deep, reaches the ball as well but fails to grab it cleanly. They take two runs.
2.5 : Bilal Khan to Liton Das, OUT! LBW! A toe-crusher from Bilal Khan yet again, around middle and curling back in a bit, Das tries his best to dig it out but misses. He is rapped on the pads, they appeal but the finger stays down. Oman are reviewing it. The UltraEdge confirms that there is no bat and the Ball Tracker shows three reds. Crashing onto the stumps. Das' stay is over and the hosts are delighted.
2.2 : Review time! Now, a review is taken by Oman for an LBW appeal against Liton Das! Replays show that the ball hit the pad first. A great review as the Ball Tracker shows THREE REDS. That is the end of Das!
2.4 : Mahedi Hasan gets a promotion in the batting order.
2.6 : Bilal Khan to Mahedi Hasan, Very full again, around off and swinging back in, Hasan defends it out to end a successful over for Bilal.

3.4 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, SIX! Mohammad Naim is turning it on now for Bangladesh. Kaleemullah delivers it around middle and leg, on a length, Naim clears his front leg and heaves it all the way over mid-wicket for a maximum. Clean strike.
3.5 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, Much better line and length from the bowler. Angles across a length ball, outside off, Naim tries to drive it through the line, a loose effort away from the body, and he misses.
3.6 : Kaleemullah to Mohammad Naim, Close to off, on a good length, Naim is not happy with himself as he ends up pushing it back to the bowler. 10 from the over!
4.1 : Fayyaz Butt to Mahedi Hasan, What a delivery! That beat the outside edge by a whisker. Fayyaz Butt speeds in and serves it on a length outside off, skidding away off the surface, Mahedi tries to push at it but it whistles past the edge.
0.0 : Will Bilal Khan continue with the ball? Nopes. Fayyaz Butt is introduced into the attack.
4.2 : Fayyaz Butt to Mahedi Hasan, Identical to the last delivery, this time Mahedi plays a bit late and pushes it with an angled bat to point.
4.3 : Fayyaz Butt to Mahedi Hasan, OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! The move to promote Mahedi Hasan has not worked for Bangladesh. Slightly short in length around off, at 136 kph, it's not short enough to pull but Mahedi stands back to do that. He swings his bat across the line but the ball skids on sharply at him and takes the splice of his blade. The ball lobs back to the bowler and Fayyaz Butt does well to accept the return catch with a dive to his left. Outstanding effort and his teammates are mobb
4.2 : Who will come out? Shakib Al Hasan, it is.
4.5 : Fayyaz Butt to Shakib Al Hasan, Fullish and on off, shaping in, Shakib pushes it back to the bowler off the inner half. Butt dives to his left and stops the ball partially.

4.6 : Fayyaz Butt to Shakib Al Hasan, Fuller and on off, angling in, Shakib drives it back to the bowler. Eventful over from Fayyaz Butt.
4.5 : Bowling change. Mohammad Nadeem to bowl now!
5.1 : Mohammad Nadeem to Mohammad Naim, A bit on the shorter side around off, Naim plays it down with soft hands towards cover-point and looks for a run. He is sent back.
5.2 : Mohammad Nadeem to Mohammad Naim, Excellent delivery, shortish and on middle, shaping in to cramp the batsman for room, Naim goes back to deal with it. The ball bounces a bit extra, takes his gloves and rolls towards square leg. They cross.
5.3 : Mohammad Nadeem to Shakib Al Hasan, Nadeem lands this one on a length outside off, Shakib gets into an awkward position as he possibly tries to premeditate a paddle scoop. He is forced to change his mind and defend it to the off side.
5.4 : Mohammad Nadeem to Shakib Al Hasan, A hint of movement, around middle and leg, Shakib tucks it down to backward square leg and collects a single.
5.5 : Mohammad Nadeem to Mohammad Naim, Again a bit of an extra bounce, around middle, Naim goes on his toes to defend but gets an inside edge. It rolls wide of the stumps on the leg side and they cross for a single.
5.6 : Mohammad Nadeem to Shakib Al Hasan, Fullish and around off, Shakib pushes it to mid off. The fielder is at the edge of the circle and hence it's an easy run. At the end of the Powerplay, Bangladesh are 29/2.

9.4 : Drinks! Oman started off really well by choking the runs and taking a couple of quick wickets, but, since then, they have been poor on the field as they have dropped 3 catches and have allowed Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Naim to stitch a handy stand. The fielder in the deep does well to pull it back before the fence and after consulting the third umpire, the onfield umpire is happy with the fielding effort. Two runs added to the total.
18.4 : Fayyaz Butt to Mahmudullah, Short and wide, outside off, change in pace again, Mahmudullah chops his attempted square cut, towards short third man, and takes a single.
18.5 : Fayyaz Butt to Taskin Ahmed, Sharp one, short and around off, Taskin Ahmed tries to pull but misses. The keeper fumbles and concedes a bye.
18.6 : Fayyaz Butt to Mahmudullah, FOUR! That fumble from the keeper has cost his team a boundary in the end. Short and outside off, Mahmudullah camps back and steers it through the gap between short third man and backward point. 6 balls left, how many more can Bangladesh add to their total?
18.4 : Bilal Khan (3-0-15-1) to bowl the final over of the innings!
19.1 : Mustafizur Rahman is the last man in!
19.6 : Oman will definitely be the happier of the two sides at the halfway stage of this game, but, had they stopped Bangladesh to a total of around 20 runs lesser, then the game would be in their grasp. Their counterparts though, with the exception of a couple of batters, never got going and have ended on a decent total of 153.
A good bowling display from the hosts, but they know that they could have done slightly better, especially out on the field, as they dropped a bucketload of catches, which they would hope does not come back to haunt them, come the end of the game. The start by them was top-notch, but they found it hard to break the stand between Naim and Shakib, but, once that was dismantled, they bounced back well towards the end. Bilal Khan had a fruitful evening as both his spells, at the start and the end,
Right then. 154 is what Oman need to win and book their place in the Super 12 and with the backing of the home crowd, they will be pumped and excited to come out and chase this down. Bangladesh need a win to stay alive and they have the bowling attack required to defend this total. Will they be able to do so though? We shall find out. Stay tuned for Oman's reply.
Fayyaz Butt is up for a chat, he says, the debut is a big thing for himself and the team as well. Adds, he bowled three good length deliveries, but these were without the pace. But later he increased his pace and maybe that deceived the batsman. Goes onto says, he admired Brett Lee and Imran Khan a lot. Ends by saying he might have stealed the bowling actions.
19.1 : Bilal Khan to Taskin Ahmed, Four leg byes! Wrong line from Bilal Khan, fuller and around middle, angling down the leg side, Taskin tries to flick but misses. It clips his pads and speeds away to the fine leg fence. 150 up!
19.2 : Bilal Khan to Taskin Ahmed, Well stopped at extra cover by Zeeshan Maqsood! Fuller and around off, Taskin drives it through the line but fails to get it past the Oman skipper. They cross for a run and Mahmudullah is back on strike.
19.3 : Bilal Khan to Mahmudullah, OUT! STUMPS SHATTERED! Bilal Khan switches to 'round the wicket and spears in a very full ball around off at 129 kph, Mahmudullah stays back to swing his bat at it but fails to connect. The ball goes behind to peg the off stump back. Bilal has two in the match, can Oman get Bangladesh all out?
19.4 : Bilal Khan to Mustafizur Rahman, Short and around off, Mustafizur Rahman steps back and then tries to play a late cut but fails to connect.
19.5 : Bilal Khan to Mustafizur Rahman, Very full and in the line of the stumps, Mustafizur Rahman digs it out from the inner half of his bat and it squirts behind square leg. The batsmen get two.
19.6 : Bilal Khan to Mustafizur Rahman, OUT! Bangladesh are all out on the final ball! Bilal Khan delivers it full and on middle, Mustafizur Rahman hops back to make room for a big shot but only manages to tower it high in the air towards mid off. Zeeshan Maqsood gets underneath it, keeps his eyes on the ball and takes the skier safely. Bangladesh have got 153 on the board.
... The Run Chase ...
This batting display of Bangladesh was only about 2 batters and nobody else. Yes, Mahmudullah did well towards the end by getting a few handy runs, but if not for the knocks by Mohammad Naim and Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangla Tigers would have been staring down the barrel. They started off poorly as they could only conjure 29 runs, losing 2 wickets, in the Powerplay. Then, came the stand of substance between Naim and Shakib of 80 runs, which helped the Tigers get the push. Lady luck smiled on th
