Hello and a warm welcome to the first ODI between Afghanistan and Ireland in UAE! After some visa issues before this series, we are all set to see Afghanistan back in action after a long gap. Afghanistan have been a dominant force in recent times and they love playing against Ireland but some of their players might be rusty and that just might give an edge to the Irish in this game. Balbirnie's men are coming into this game after a terrific win over UAE, courtesy a fine performance from Simi Sin
Update 0935 local (0535 GMT) - Okay, here is some news for you! We are hearing that the toss has been delayed due to some heavy fog in Abu Dhabi. Let's hope that the fog clears and we get the toss and the action soon after that. Stay tuned for further updates.
Toss time - The conditions are lot clearer now and the toss is all set to happen. Up goes the coin and it lands in favour of Afghanistan. They have elected to bat first. 
Andy Balbirnie, Ireland skipper, says that it is a used surface and they would have also wanted to bat first but they don't mind bowling first. Adds that they had a good last game against UAE but they need to carry on the momentum. 
Asghar Afghan, Afghanistan skipper, says they will bat first. Adds that it is a good surface to bat and they would look to put runs on the board. Adds that they have two debutants in this game and hopes that the spinners can do the job in the second innings.

Afghanistan were off to a brilliant start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Javed Ahmadi punched above their weight and stitched a 120-run stand. But once Ahmadi fell, the floodgates opened and they lost 5 wickets in a heap but Gurbaz continued and registered a century on ODI debut. He fell at the wrong time and then it looked like they will be restricted to a low score but Rashid Khan had other ideas as he flayed the bowlers to all parts of the ground and took them to 287. 66 from the last 5 overs has helped Afghanistan propel their score to 287 which is a very good one on this wicket. At the end of the 40th over, it looked unlikely that they will reach this score but Rashid Khan's blitz in the final five overs just turned things around. Brilliant stuff and they will be pretty pleased with the total in the end.
Ireland's bowling was all about one man, Andy McBrine! He shone with the ball with a 5-fer and is the reason that they have managed to keep Afghanistan below 300. After starting poorly, Andy McBrine was given the ball and that worked as he picked up the first 5 wickets to fall and that had Afghanistan in all sorts of trouble.
