As per World Health Organisation (WHO), this year's  World Health Day theme is 'Building a fairer, healthier world'. 

Stating that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit all the countries hard, WHO mentioned that ours is an unequal world where "some groups struggle to make ends meet with little daily income...little or no access to safe environments, clean water and air, food security and health services."

WHO urged leaders around the world to "monitor health inequities, and to ensure that all people are able to access quality health services when and where they need them."

And while people across the globe are still struggling to come to terms with how much life has changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, recently, a U.K.-based price comparison website Money.co.uk has come out with a list of the world’s healthiest countries in 2021. The publications release this list every year and this time too it has been published on World Health Day. 

Criteria

The publication mentioned that their mortgage experts rank the healthiest countries and cities in the world on the basis of "good food, good company and good transport links". Additionally, conditions like air quality, pollution levels, cost of living, life expectancy among other things are taken into consideration. 

Below is the list of the top 5 world's healthiest countries.

1. Spain: According to the report, Spain is the healthiest country in the world. It mentioned a few reasons such as their Mediterranean lifestyle, walking as a mode of transport, which helps to lower deaths caused by pollution, cost of living is moderate among other things why the country topped their list. 

2. Portugal: As per the report, Portugal bagged the second spot on the list of the world's healthiest countries. Their high-ranking healthcare system is the reason why the country has achieved good rankings in several health indices over the years, including this one.

3. Switzerland: Switzerland is home to one of the happiest populations. In fact, according to the World Economic Forum's 2013 Human Capital Report, Switzerland invests more in the health, education and talent of its people than any other country in the world.

4. Japan: Home to the oldest living population in the world, Japan obviously has one of the highest life expectancies in the world! Other factors that contribute to Japan being in the top five are: their smaller portion sizes and protein-dense diet, their notoriously fast transportation, walking as the preferred mode of transportation and high cost of living matched with the price among other things. 

5. Iceland: Good healthcare system, healthy diet and clean water among other things such as low levels of smoking, makes Iceland one of the world's healthiest countries to live in.
