Today the world is celebrating World Happiness Day and amid coronavirus outbreak, this day holds a special message for each one of us.

 What exactly is World Happiness Day is? Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognise the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world. 

The General Assembly of the United Nations passed a resolution on 12 July 2012 proclaimed 20 March the International Day of Happiness, recognizing the relevance of happiness and well-being as universal goals and aspirations in the lives of human beings around the world and the importance of their recognition in public policy objectives. 

It also recognized the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of all peoples.

World Happiness Day 2020 Theme

World Happiness Day theme 2020 is 'Happiness For All, Together'. The theme means all about being 'happier together'. The theme gives a message to find happiness in common instead of focusing on the things that divide us.

Why we celebrate World Happiness Day on March 20th?

World Happiness Day is celebrated on March 20th as its day of March equinox. Equinox is the time or date (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator when day and night are of equal length.
