The Manhattan Short Film Festival has a special segment highlighting what freedom means to women.
The fourth edition of the Manhattan Short Film Festival brings freedom of women in focus. The festival, which will be held in Mumbai on September 29, this year has a special category — The Wave: The Manhattan Short India Women’s Freedom video contest — that is meant to address this very issue. All a filmmaker (man or woman) has do is shoot a one-minute video — on any format — describing what ‘freedom’ means to him/her. You can simply talk into the camera about what this word means to you, narrate a incident that has left an impact on your or show how freedom features in your life through several images, but all in one minute. You can send your entries by uploading them on youtube, sending the link on manhattanmumbai@gmail.com.
These stories will be judged by a panel of patrons. Out of the many entries three stories will be screened at the VIP, Celebrity screening of Manhattan Short Film Festival India on September 29 at Fun Republic, Andheri. Anil Sadarangani, Festival Director India, Manhattan Short, “We wanted to start a dialogue about the issues that women have been facing, especially in the current scenario. We hope that this dialogues becomes a wave that will lead to a change. We’ll do it every year and hopefully it’ll be on a bigger scale in the future. We want it to be positive, but not jingoistic.”
