Top 10 ways to keep your boss happy

Know the way your boss works:
Every individual is different, so is your boss. Know them by observing and then work in accordance with their set of rules. For instance, if your boss is a morning person, don’t bug him/her with that all important signature on your leave card in late evenings, as they might just not be in the mood.

Be punctual:
Punctuality reflects your dedication to work. If you are on time, your boss knows subconsciously that you are the person who takes work sincerely and can be delegate responsibly.

Come up with good ideas:
Ideas that are not cliched yet sensible have the potential to bring a sparkle to anyone’s eyes, including your boss. Your boss will recognise you as the guy who has the brains to think and come up solutions that can grant a good lead to your organisation against the competition.

Show initiative to complete the ideas:
Usually lots of ideas float in the cosmos after they have been given. Unless you show initiative to back your good ideas with good effort, you boss will listen to more intently the next time you have an idea. Otherwise, he/she might ignore you thinking you talk pie-in-the-sky stuff.

Don’t brag:
If you have received praise from your boss for the good work you did, then don’t act as if you have become the Gsod of the world. Be modest and try to play it cool as if nothing happened. Bragging can sometimes make you look stupid.

Have an opinion of your own but don’t argue:
Never be the yes man and agree to whatever your boss is saying. But that doesn’t mean you end up disagreeing with every other idea your boss has. If you think it’s logical, put it across as a suggestion and then see how your boss has to take it forward.

Take work in stride when given:
If your boss has asked to do something, then you better do it rather than shirking it off to someone else. It only shows that you are a dependable and responsible guy.

Be honest:
Honesty is always the best policy. If you have not been able to complete your target due to any reason, state it honestly rather than making excuses. Your boss will appreciate it and respect you more.

Be reliable too:
In a crisis situation, be the one who can get the task done rather than the one who panics. Try your best. If it still doesn’t work out, you will still be counted as the one who showed initiative.

Don’t complain about colleagues:
People who play ‘games’ in office to show their colleagues in a bad light don’t go very far in their career. So, mind your own business and do your tasks well. Your boss is capable of judging who is right.
