Three’s a party!

Comedy, comedy and more comedy — yes, that’s what entertains people in the city now. Going by the number of comedy acts happening in Bangalore, it seems like your dose of laughter is definitely taken care of. Here’s Eventually International Entertainment, bringing you this week’s comedy fix with 3’s Company featuring comedians Tanmay Bhat, Karunesh Talwar and Rohan Joshi. “Laughter clubs never made any sense to me. When you have such amazing artistes in our country, then why not give them a chance to entertain you? We have been doing shows for the last eight years. But in the last one year, we have made it a point to host one comedy night every month,” says Ajit Saldanha, the man who has put this whole show together. “Bangalore market is always open to new concepts and there are many people in the city who says, ‘I don’t understand all this theatre and art shows. I want something more relaxing and light’. They don’t want to tax their head after a long day at work. They just want to enjoy a few drinks and let their heads down. And comedy shows are the best stress-busters for those,” adds Ajit.

Talking about bringing down Tanmay, Karunesh and Rohan together, Ajit says, “They obviously are good — Tanmay with his religious humour without being offensive, Karunesh who realises there’s more to life than sitting around and looking after family business and Rohan with his punches. Today, everyone thinks they are comedians, but making a roomful of strangers laugh, takes a lot of talent. And these guys have got that,” says Ajit.
What makes 3’s Company different from any other comedy show happening around? “I watch my comedians very closely. They have to impress me and for that, they have to be pretty good. And I’m sure the guys I feature — you may love them or hate them, but they will surely entertain you. It is a tedious process. I work very closely with my artistes. We sit and discuss material and work around content,” says Ajit, adding, “A lot of work goes into it and we do a lot of homework. It’s not just about standing and cracking some jokes. A comedian has to hold the show and the audience and my artistes are capable of that.”

And Ajit works very hard to pull of his shows successfully and that’s becuase...“I believe that if my artistes perform badly, it shows bad on me. No one remembers how good your previous show was. I have to be good with every show because I’m as good as my last show,” signs off Ajit.
