Style hunter: Resort highlights

Culottes are trending across the board and so are mini skirts. Layered with long jackets and splashed with stripes and bold tropical strokes - the resort lines have been all about embracing the spirit of hedonism. Karl Lagerfeld who's been toying with orchids past few season at Fendi, brought the bird of paradise motif in focus. Peter Copping at Oscar de la Renta made the house's signature frothy sheath dresses and sequinned gowns up-to-the-second trendy while Halston Heritage presented kaftans and maxi dresses which had an unmistakable nomadic vibe. Biker jackets have been seen everywhere - from Fendi's sophisticated ensembles to the layering at Sonia by Sonia Rykiel's nautical striped separates.

Inspiration: Bird of Paradise
Highlights: The bird of paradise was the leitmotif appearing on maxi dresses, collard and pleated minis. Culottes paired with jackets, degrade denim jumpsuits, coat dresses, buttery leather jackets and leather micro shorts evoked a playful, biker chick vibe.

Inspiration: The house's joie de vivre
Highlights: Peter Copping reinterpreted the house's colours, patterns in his own language. For example, a pair of off-shoulder taffeta gowns with a high low hemline was an ode to the late designer's penchant for theatrics. Belted knee-length sheath dresses, off-shoulder sequinned dresses in candy tones, ruffled minis, coat dresses and gowns kissed with placement-oriented embroidery spelled Hollywood glamour.

Halston Heritage
Vibe: 70s
Highlights: One-shoulder kaftan maxis in bold vibrant strokes channeled unabashed 70s glamour. Ombre one-shoulder tunics, bodysuits paired with a wide-brimmed hate, culottes and pleated fluid jumpsuits brought to mind a luxe resort vacay. Halter jumpsuits were some of the other highlights.

Vibe: Nautical
Highlights: Nautical striped dresses and maxis along with metallic pencil minis evoked 70s again so did models' fringed hair. Layering with knee-length jackets and slouchy denims gave the line a relaxed yet polished feel.
