A floaty, light-weight and almost dream-like macrame dress stood out and so did abstract floral prints numbers and shibori print pieces. See-through mesh was clashed with solid pieces, tulle was netted in macrame and bustiers were deboned — all of which proved to be the winning formula. At Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello there were plenty of fluttery transparent dresses in leopard prints inspired by the hallowed French house’s rich archive.

Designers like Rahul Mishra, Olivier Theyskens, Loche and Miu Miu also toyed with the idea of tantalising transparency. Looks like the lingerie-inspired boudoir dressing isn’t going out of favour anytime soon. One’s got to have a strong sense of identity to pull these off. It’ll be interesting to see its interpretation on the red carpet in the upcoming awards seasons.
