The itsy-bitsy classic gets bold like never before!
Recently Sara Ali Khan was spotted in a polka dotted mini. Also, Alanna Pandey was seen rocking Surily G’s va va voom embellished mini dresses at an Ensemble preview. This season is all about the gravity defying hem-line, high-octane embellishments and unapologetic party pieces. The likes of Saint Laurent, Balmain, David Koma and Alexandre Vauthier have redefined the classic with intricate surface texturing and dramatic accents.
Designer Surily G, who recently showcased her party line at Ensemble in Santacruz, shares, “The mini is a classic and now it’s become high-waist. It’s short and flared, sexy and cutesy. You could make it feminine or rock star — depending on your mood. Olivier Rousteing and Anthony Vaccarello have been very consistent with it in their collection and it has made its presence felt in almost every line-up. However, it’s not for everyone as one needs to have a tiny waist and good legs to pull off.”

A mini skirt is one rebellious piece of classic that will make you outshine in a room full of floor-sweeping gowns. Designer Aniket Satam says, “In these times of female empowerment, the mini is reinterpreted by designers as a style weapon, which screams about personal choices and daring sartorial statements. A 60’s offshoot, the mini never left the scene, but has always resurrected in various forms. For the coming season, this extremely textured and embellished version is a must-have fashion piece.”
