Fashion's beloved animal has appeared on everything over the years from a custom-made red carpet gown to T-shirts and nifty accessories. Sometimes dancing in circles and at times screaming - designers have never got tired of monkeying around with the cool and nifty motif.

Tsumori Chisato's Fall 2014 line showed a dress with vibrant simians in electric tones. Delpozo in its Spring 2015 offering presented the motif in luxe jacquard style. Miuccia Prada's Spring 2011 lineup paid homage to the iconic Josephine Baker, who danced before Parisian audiences wearing nothing but a skirt of bananas. Lanvin in Spring 2015 offering (the brand's 125th anniversary show) showcased a gold monkey pendant. Louis Vuitton menswear last season presented souvenir shirts with the simian motif. Christopher Raeburn in its Spring 2016 line-up sent out an orangutan backpack, Alessandro Michele in Gucci Spring 2016 presented simian-inspired ear studs.

The raw, ruffian energy mingled with a dash of playfulness, makes it fashion's refernce point season after season.
