National award winning director Shaji Karun has designed a signature film for the International Film Festival of India to begin on Thursday.

"The signature film of the 45th IFFI, Dances of Peacock, is a 30-second logo film that will precede all screenings at the festival," as per the IFFI souvenir.

The film, designed by 62-year-old Karun, one of the highly regarded filmmakers who has won award at Cannes film festival, showcases how cinema has evolved around the world. The abstract and subjective rendition was done using 3D technology. The festival logo is the main focus here, whereas the film revolves around the peacock, rain and nature," the souvenir mentions.

"Dances of Peacock has three elements: the peacock, India's national bird, the festival logo, and the first letter of the alphabets a from the country's 22 official languages. It also highlights the importance of monsoon that holds the key to the country's economy," it says.

The 11-day long IFFI would be inaugurated by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Also, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth would be presented a special centenary award during the festival.
