Salmanbhai is like family: Sanjana Jon

“I’m very excited to be showing in my own country. It is the first time I will showcase a collection here,” says Sanjana Jon, who will show at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi. “The theme of my collection is siblings, family and love. I think India is the motherland for all these virtues. Salman- bhai has promised to walk the ramp for my show. Sushmita Sen will be walking the ramp with brother Rajiv Sen and so will Raima and Riya Sen.”

Sanjana is of the opinion that the love between siblings and family is a very Indian thing. She says, “People from across the world have learnt it from us. I think it is a very inherent quality in our land. I get strength to deal with the world from my family. And by family I don’t only mean my mother and relatives. But I also include Salman bhai, Sushmita as part of my family. They are very supportive of me and also have stood by me like a rock.”

With the show being one of the biggest for her career, does Sanjana miss her brother Anand. “My collection is a tribute to Anand. Today, as a designer, whatever I am is because of him. He is my mentor. For me designing came with a lot of push and shove, I had to work on it. But he is an artist...he’s gifted.”
