Christmas is just around the corner. As you get ready to deck the halls with boughs of holly, we ask designers how you can pull off red and green, the colours of the season. They tell us what’s trending, what not to wear and how to put together a chic look effortlessly.

‘BOTTLE GREEN IS THE COLOUR’

While scarlet has always been a favourite shade (who can resist a lady in red?), designer Arpita Mehta is rooting for all things green. She says, “For me, the colour for this season is bottle green, be it in an all-sequin dress or a sharp pantsuit. The rich tone can make a party-look appear chic.” However, she cautions against going all out, stating that balance is the key and the right make-up and styling can make all the difference.

GOING GREEN WITH STYLE!

Arpita recommends, “Opt for smokey eyes and nude make-up with a shiny bottle-green sequin dress to make a statement. You can also choose bold red lips for a matte ensemble in this shade. Having the right amount of both the colours that are dominant during the beautiful festive season is the right way to go.”

TRY SATIN OR POWER ON WITH A PANTSUIT

Designer Nikhil Thampi believes that with the holidays finally here, everyone is sure to bring their fashion A-game on. “For those who want to stick to the classic reds or greens, they can safely invest in a satin or velvet dress. Or sport a powerful look with a well-fitted pantsuit that can be paired with minimal jewellery.” Clearly, dresses and gowns are not the only way to go. If pants are your thing seek some inspiration from Blake Lively, who is known for donning pantsuits with elan. Go for bling, but make sure it’s not OTT.
