Reiki, the Japanese art of healing may have an Indian origin
When 43-year-old Kanchan Nadkar sought doctors’ help to get her lost voice back, she was shaken when she heard that she would never be able to speak again.
For two years, she tried all possible medications but none helped. Then one of her friends asked her to try reiki as a last resort.
Six months later, what she woke up to one day, amazed her beyond wits. “One morning I got up and realised that I could speak. For me, it was nothing less than a miracle,” she says.
Impressed by reiki’s healing effect on her, she decided to learn this art herself. Today, more than 15 years later, Nadkar is a reiki master. Today she is not only healing people but is also passing on her knowledge to other believers.
“Reiki employs the cosmic energy of the universe to heal people. Since this energy is spread across the entire universe, even the plants, animals and inanimate objects can be given reiki. It can be given as well as taken at any place or time,” she says.
Reiki, the Japanese art of healing, is believed to have an Indian origin. ‘Rei’ means universal and ‘ki’ stands for life force. Nadkar explains how reiki can help solve problems. “Reiki works at four levels: Physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. People do not believe in the power of reiki because they cannot see it. The human mind accepts only that which is tangible. It cannot comprehend the concept of distant healing, which is possible in reiki,” she says.
Amita Soni was detected with cervical cancer in 2002, at the age of 47. The cancer was diagnosed at an advanced stage and doctors had given up hopes of her survival. She finally sought reiki. In less than three months of taking reiki sessions, she found herself completely cured of the ailment. Today, she continues to live a healthy life even after a decade.
In another incident, reiki saved the face of 18-year-old Radhika who met with an accident while she was driving her two-wheeler. Her nose smashed which left her face entirely disfigured. It had to be completely bandaged.
Doctors declared that plastic surgery was her only hope and that too did not guarantee absolute success. Radhika’s mother Nishi was a reiki trainer who began giving her reiki soon after.
To everyone’s surprise, Radhika got completely healed in a very short span.
