December is already here, which means every other night is spent out about town attending various bashes. The party season usually calls for Little Black Dresses (LBD), sequinned minis, elegant gowns and jumpsuits with touches of shimmer. This is the only season when bling is a norm, not an exception. But before you go filling your wardrobe with the usual party attire, read on to know how to nail the perfect look for you.

BOHO CHICFor the woman who wants to go for a bohemian look, designer Surily Goel suggests experimenting with various prints such as aztec, tie-dye or floral. “These add a fun element to your wardrobe. Try wearing a short beaded skirt or a long flowy print skirt or printed flare bottom trousers that work well this season. The key is to combine it with a solid neutral colour and make the print the focus of the look. To take the look up a notch — make it more eveningwear and dressy — throw on a sequinned jacket or a statement belt or even accessories like a solid statement jewellery piece. Head bands too are very fun this season. Add a quirky piece on your forehead and glam up your look,” says Surily.

GLAM GIRLIf it’s a glitzy event that you’re attending, there are various options to choose from. “A long jersey jumpsuit with encrusted collars that fits close to the body can look both sensuous and stylish. For those who want something more trendy, instead of the usual LBDs, sweatshirt shaped dresses with ribbed hems are a popular choice. They look sporty yet have an embellished glam touch.

Another alternative is opting for a classic long dress, either backless or with a slit on the side,” says designer Namrata Joshipura. She suggests if one is going for bling on the garments, the accessories should be minimal. “An interestingly-shaped evening bag looks great. Avoid chunky sandals but instead pair your outfit with stiletto- type heels or even kitten heels,” she adds.

BIKER BABEParty dressing need not always be very feminine. Adding a little edge can go a long way, says designer Kanika Saluja Choudhry. “For a party, I’d suggest pairing a gladiator dress with a biker jacket, leather spiked cuff and boots. However, make sure it’s not the regular boots but those with a rough feel. The biker look is a more androgynous one and there are various options. I personally love really short leather or denim shorts teamed with a tee and jacket and lots of hardware,” she says. Stick to colours such as greys, blacks, navy and chocolate as this look doesn’t work with loud colours. She also suggests shopping for lots of chains and rings to rock this look.
