Protecting your car from theft

Your wheels are precious to you, and while you might buy the choicest accessories for your ride, keeping it guarded against theft should be a priority. Here’s how:

Park it right
Make sure that you park your car in secured lots. If you don’t have a designated parking spot at home or work, avoid parking in deserted bylanes. Also, look for a pay-and-park and ensure that you’ve locked the car. If you’re parking in a lot, make sure that you park it close to the entrance where there is a constant movement of people. Also, make sure that the parking slip (often essential at exit) is never left in the car.

Alarms
Fix a car-theft alarm. One can even get theft alarms with GPS settings that help locate the vehicle if stolen. Car black-boxes are expensive but they allow you to keep tabs on your car through your mobile phones or computers.

Lock and lock
Additional locks for the steering wheel also help. Someone may gain access to your car, but they wont be able to drive away with a locked steering!

Insurance
In addition to taking all the above measures, you need to get a comprehensive insurance plan just in case somebody manages to steal your wheels. Make sure that your policy covers theft and that it is renewed time to time.
