New York shows saw the hemlines grazing below the knees. While feathers and slip-dresses sparkled at Rodarte, Tory Burch showed Moroccan prints on sweater separates. Rag and Bone took the 90s route by showing tunics-over-pants combo, Altuzarra sent out a contrasting pantsuit worn over a ruffled turtle neck. Also, tartan emerged to be a major trend with Alexander Wang and Badgley Mischka playing with the classic pattern.MarchesaInspiration: 20sHighlights: Reams and reams of fringes and Gatsby-like hair spelled old world Hollywood glamour. There were flowers made of sheared feathers embellished on an A-line gown and a tux-inspired cocktail dress stood out. The 3-D florals - one of the most powerful insignia of Marchesa vocabulary added to the allure of a giant-bloom gown. Burgundy lips and fringed danglers completed models' looks.Michael KorsVibe: Unfussy, American, utilitarianHighlights: Fur and plenty of it was the recurring theme across the line. Sweater dresses, tunics, plaid capes, double-breasted jacket with cut sleeves paired with ankle-grazing skirts, cinched at the waist with a slim belt were some of the highlights. A floral print dress lined with a fur collar and a gold sequinned sheath dress stood out.Narciso RodriguezInspiration: Indian maharajasHighlights: A panoply of monochrome, clean, crisp and minimal skirt, trouser separates set the tone of the collection. High-waist trousers, sheer bodysuits and second-skin knits on top, a bandeau covering and knits were accessorised with chokers and cuffs. He beautifully colour-blocked a saffron vest with a pair of blush pink trous.Prabal GurungInspiration: Upstate New YorkHighlights: A series of sexy slip dresses slashed at the thighs, sporty sequinned tank tunics and an embellished pant-suit echoed the lush vegetation of the mountains the designer had paid his visit to. If Himalayas inspired him last time, Prabal took inspiration from Adirondacks this time making him a true poet of nature.
