It’s New Year’s Eve and the nightscape in Mumbai is about to get hotter. Think enormous dance floors, glossy folk, vibrant music — that will all add to tomorrow night’s rollicking fun. And folks will be looking stylish among the coloured strobes!

Whether it’s X’mas or New Year, keep it classic. Also, how you will dress depends on where you’re heading to. At a five star, wear a mid-length dress, to club go with blingy tops and jeans. For guys, a blazer is apt. Remember bling is in, so the look has to be glamourous. Use gold and silver and/or Swarovskis too.

jazz up that black: Falguni Peacock
While black certainly rules, one must take care to jazz it up so it doesn’t get boring. Tone on tone also suits, so for men a black shirt, tie and blazer work well.

They may even wear an interesting collar jacket or a texture on texture one or even a sequined tie. Girls can wear a black dress in different cuts and styles as long as it’s short as gowns are out.

Embellishments on a low back or waist will look really nice.

Mix of ’70s and ’80s: Ana Singh
This year the party look is going to be a happy amalgamation of the ’70s and ’80s so for girls it will be romper shorts, jumpsuits with crystal belts. Fabrics are more lycra-centric as people now have fitter bodies to show off. Power shoulders are back too.

For guys — safaris and denim jackets and jeans with studs and rivets will be in.
