Indians are eagerly waiting to travel within the country and also to foreign destinations once there is an ease in international travel restrictions.
As the world is getting more accustomed to living with the COVID-19 pandemic and more people getting vaccinated by the day, the world is trying to come back to normal. With the COVID-19 cases going down and travel restrictions being eased across the globe, people want to break free from the clutches of confinement and explore the world and breathe in some fresh air.
Indians are also eagerly waiting to travel to various tourist locations within the country and also to foreign destinations once there is an ease in international travel restrictions. Data for August 2021 suggests that the top three most searched international destinations by Indians for travelling are the United States, Russia, and the Maldives.
Besides, Switzerland and Qatar are amongst the top five most searched destinations for outbound travel for Indians. Canada, UK, Mexico, Armenia and France are also not lagging behind in terms of preference.
Earlier, research revealing 52% of Indian travellers are looking forward to exploring their home country this year. The top preference of Indians are metropolitan cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. Besides metro cities, Indians want to spend their leisure holidays amid scenic beauty like Lonavala and Leh. Tourist destinations like Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Udaipur also feature in the preference list.
Hotels continue to be the top searched accommodation by Indian travellers who want to travel within the country. However, alternative accommodations like guest houses, villas and apartments are also emerging as the next prefered thing due to cheaper rates than hotels and getting more privacy and comfort with cleanliness and hygiene.
