Look of the week: Ruggedly good with Chetan Chandra

With the holiday season fast approaching, we won’t be surprised if all you adventure enthusiasts have already planned to hit a trail or sweat it out with some heavy duty rock climbing. You surely have your favourites when it comes to the getaways but if you are looking for some pointers on how to dress appropriately while setting out for a trek or for rock climbing, we suggest you let adventure seeker and Kannada actor Chetan Chandra show you the way.

Chetan is quite the fitness addict and never lets go of an opportunity to indulge adventurous activities. Who could be better than an expert like him to show how to blend durability, comfort and style and just not feel but also look good while on one such trip. Lensman Rakesh Ravindran decides to join him on an expedition and freeze the perfect look for that all those of you who share a passion for both the outdoors and fashion.

Dress me up
Comfort rules Chetan’s style statement and especially when he’s out for trekking or rock climbing. He feels one is good to go with something as uncomplicated as a pair of shorts  and a T-shirt. For the shoot, he teams his dark green shorts with an off-white cotton tee from his favourite brand Woodland.

“Woodland tees fit me well and come in a range of colours. The cargo shorts are also very functional,” says the actor.

L’il Add-Ons
A comfortable pair of shoes is a pre-requisite for any adventure activity and given that Chetan is a regular trekker and rock climber, he invests heavily in them. For this shoot he picks out a pair of sturdy green and brown suede and leather all terrain boots again from Woodland.

“I feel it is good to go in for shoes that provide good ankle support. This particular pair not only addresses that need but also protects your feet from getting dirty. What’s more is that it is light weight, flexible and provides proper grip.” His choice of colours is also smart. “Brown and green are good to camouflage the dirt,” he explains.

A watch is the other must for Chetan on such trips. This time he goes for a black and red Fastrack watch. A backpack and a leather multi-purpose pouch that his brother got him from Malaysia is also something that he doesn’t leave home without.

“From a map, medical kit, wet wipes, shades, bandana, cap, extra pair of cotton socks and a T-shirt, mobile phone, camera to cash, I make sure there is place for everything in my backpack. If it is a short trip I am making, I carry my leather pouch,” he adds.

Shade it right
Never step out without a moisturiser and a sunscreen while heading for an outdoor activity is Chetan’s first word of caution. He also carries a balm that helps keep his lips moisturised. As for the hair, he suggests that you gel it up a bit so that it doesn’t fall on your face and act as a botheration making your uphill task all the more difficult. The other thing that the actor does not forget to do while on a trek is to apply some mosquito repellent.
