It's not for nothing that Masaba Gupta is India's most copied designer. She may have lost her edge over the last couple of seasons but Mrs Mantena rose once more like the Phoenix she is with this confident outing.

Transmogrifying the mundane and the banal into irresistible fashion with an off-kilter zing has been her forte and this time her gimlet-eyed focus shifted to the iconic works of Matthieu Venot (ace French photographer) and Katrin Bremermann (German artist).

She extrapolated the artists’ artworks with her subversive prints, evoking instant likability. Off-shoulder trapeze tops stood out and so did tasseled saris paired with ruffled blouses and sneakers. Angarkhas layered with the traditional kurtis, deconstructed blazers teamed with a draped dhoti skirt said soothing summer.

Tassels were the leitmotif in most ensembles and they made quite an impact with fringed earrings. Gold neck tattoos on the models' necks added to the cool finish. Shraddha Kapoor played the cool showstopper to the hilt.

In the front row were Sanjay and Manyataa Dutt, Ashiesh Shah and Sophie Choudry.
