Manish Malhotra's Lakme Fashion Week show on Wednesday night referenced today's style-savvy bride and her bridesmaids, who want to shake a leg at the wedding. The MM bride itches for a flexibility, comfort and freedom in her ensembles. Think a play of structure and movement!
Malhotra interpolated his signature resham threadwork, clustered sequins and intricate hand embroidery on ensembles. The sari was given an of-the-moment update by addition of a jacket and anarkalis were presented in a dramatic style with draped dupattas. Fabrics like silks, sheer net and lace; in tones of pure white, baby pink, lime green, lilac, champagne nude, metallic grey and honey mustard were employed.
The menswear line gloried thanks to a lot of wine-toned sherwanis and bandhgalas layered with embroidered silk scarves.
Shraddha Kapoor played a fun showstopper in a nude-toned crop top, which had botanical applique embroidery and was paired with a black lehenga skirt with gold accents. Actor Sushant Singh Rajput too swaggered down the runway in a double-breasted bandhgala, which had a metallic brooch detailing and completed his look with a pair of Jodhpur breeches and suede loafers.
