Lesson no 1: This is the best time to layerThe Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton's pregnancy wardrobe was elegant and conservative. The anyway well-dressed celebrity chose layering intelligently to notch up her sartorial quotient. Layers can be used to both accentuate or camouflage the bump. Short shrugs over little dresses, denim jackets over maxi dresses, sweaters over maternity jumpsuits will keep you snug. If jackets are not your style, invest in pretty scarves and stoles in fabrics such as silk, wool and satin - wrap them around plain t-shirts, kurtas and tops. Psst, scarves won't shrink as you go from one trimester to another.Lesson no 2: Show off your curvesIf you want to bask in the fact that you are beautifully expanding, get into dresses that are not necessarily tight, but definitely snug. Take a cue from Halle Berry's outfit that shows off her barely-there-belly, stylishly. Long dresses in viscose material are a good way to ape this style. You can also wear a belt on the empire line to accentuate your stomach. Whatever you do, just don't be uncomfortable.Lesson no 3: Keep it casualWhile most women want to jump into unfitted clothes the moment the belly begins to show, you can do it a la Jolie. The pouty actress dressed in casuals and loose dresses to look both comfortable and stylish. Straight shift dresses, tent-cut tops and anarkali kurtas work very well on a fully pregnant figure. You can team these with flat sandals and take them to brunches, cocktail evenings, movie nights.Lesson no 4: Focus on your assetsIf you want to take the attention off your stomach, highlight one element of your body that you are most proud of. Reese Witherspoon not only chose a colour that works well against her skin, she also went for a side slit and a backless number. So much skin show and a full-power colour will have no one staring at your belly.Lesson no 5: Are you having fun? Most importantly, Hiedi Klum teaches you that if you are not having fun, it won't show no matter how well you dress up. Pregnancy is a unique experience so don it with a huge grin and dress up in whatever makes you happy. From a mini skirt, palazzo pants, jeans (maternity special), knee-length skirts, trousers – there is nothing you can't wear during this time of your life. Don't get your growing size get in the way and wear that little black dress anyway.Drink lots of water: It helps in flushing out the toxins from the body as well as in maintaining sufficient amniotic fluid in the sac for the baby to be comfortable in.
