Classic black compliments soft, contrast corals, pinks, work well with caramel skin tones. So do solid yellows and blues. “Maillot and high-waisted bikinis, with diagonal colour-blocks or drapes, are perennial as they offer ample support and coverage. Strategically cut-out trikinis with one shoulder support too are in,” says Shivan Bhatiya. Printed espadrilles, silk pareos, statement pendant jewels and headbands complete the look.

Turquoise & Gold

Those shy of flaunting a two-piece can opt for a solid-coloured or graphic off-shoulder one-piece with side cuts that subtly expose the body while covering up the tummy. Halter-neck bikini tops continue to stay even as the old-school, bigger-bottomed swimsuit in bright prints and hues like blues, pink blush and burnt orange, return.

The Beach Company

One-piece swimwear with sexy side cuts is a two-year-old trend still going strong. Stripes, floral and palm tree prints spell summer for this brand. Crochet and mesh inserts on the sporty, halter-neck trend will definitely make heads turn. While black is the consistent top-seller, green has made a come back, and colour-blocking is reserved for bikinis. “Accessorise with flip flops, sarong, beach kaftan, rompers, maxi dresses, off-shoulder crop tops and backless tops,” advises co-founder Pri Shewakramani.

One pieces swimsuits in multi-colour panels or monochrome stripe designs will create an illusion of an hourglass frame and contoured waist. Actress Malaika Arora, also the style editor of the brand, has added zippers, bows and ruffles to the classic one-piece to allow it to accentuate all body types. “We recently saw a pregnant woman in our sunshine ruffled swimsuit and it looked lovely,” reveals Arora.
