Eid-ul-fitr 2021: Prayer timings across UAE, crescent moon may be sighted in Saudi Arabia tonight

The United Arab Emirates on Monday (May 9) announced that mosques across the nation would host Eid-ul-fitr prayers while maintaining social distancing. Strict Covid safety protocols will be in place for the prayers.

If the crescent moon is sighted in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night, then Gulf countries will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday (May 12). Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-al-Fitr marks the first day of Shawwal month which is the tenth month of the lunar based Islamic calendar. 

The UAE authorities have release timings for Eid prayers. They are as follows: 

Abu Dhabi

-Abu Dhabi city: 5:57am

-Al Ain: 5.50am

-Madinat Zayed: 6.01am

Dubai: 5.52am

Sharjah

-Sharjah city: 5.51am

-Al Hamriya: 5.51am

-Al Dhaid: 5:50am

-Al Batayeh: 5:50am

-Al Madam: 5:51am

-Al Maleha: 5:51am

-Sharjah eastern area: 5:48am

Ajman: 5:51am

Ras Al Khaimah: 5.48am

Umm Al Quwain: 5.50am

Fujairah: 5:48am 

The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia called for the sighting of crescent moon in UAE, Qatar, and other Arab states on Tuesday evening, which will mark the end of Ramadan 2021 and beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr. 

Including the sermon, the total duration of the prayer is limited to 15 minutes. Mosques and musallahs will open 15 minutes before the prayer and close immediately after, reported Khaleej Times.
